Oh Gosh! It’s been a while!

Hello you! Where have I been? Well that is a good question – the honest answer?
Probably head first in the fridge shovelling in cookies! Oops!

But I am in fact back and with a vengeance.

Today (technically yesterday – I’ll get to that) is a new day! New Binny! New body!

Starting Stats

Weight – 175lb
Height – 5ft 6in

Calories – 1919
Carbs – 182g
Protein – 140g
Fats – 70g

So what’s new? Why all the numbers? Well you see, I am back to the gym after a break and back hard. And Slimming World just isn’t cutting it anymore. Why work hard at the gym learning all about your muscles and what helps etc when at the end of the day you either blow all your syns on protein shakes (that SW’ers frown upon!) Or you can scoff 15 syns of junk (which SW’ers are known to do!)

I want to eat healthy, and clean. Why can’t I eat an avocado but your weight in white rice is ok? Hmm.

So what did Binny find?

Well, originally a contest! That’s what! Bodybuilding.com in conjunction with BSN supplements are holding a 6-week bulk/shred competition with a $10,000 prize up for grabs – now that’s what I call motivation!

And it was thanks to this, and subsequently the Team Shred forum that I found IIFYM. (If It Fits Your Macros) Theory is; you have an amount of carbs, fats and proteins that reflect whether you want to lose, gain or maintain. How you eat these is up to you but ideally as clean as possible.

Well I think I may have found it. A sustainable way of eating/working out that means I can eat what I want when I want – as long as “IFYM” 😀

And my first meal of the first day off SW? Avocado!!

Happy Mondays

Right, last week didn’t quite go to plan. And I can’t weigh tomorrow as I have a hospital appointment – boo! (Actually kinda relieved!)

So I’m starting anew! All super fresh and raring to go – I have a measly 30lbs to lose, what’s to stop me? I have a plan of action, food and fitness is planned and I am going food shopping later on!

I thought I’d take some measurements too – I have my starting ones somewhere and will post a before and after when I find them. Til then, here’s where I’m at now –

Upper Arm – 13″
Chest – 34″
Waist – 32″
Hips – 42″
Thigh – 24″
Calf – 15″

Not too shabby, if you ignore the massive butt!!

I have decided that I have new goals (the weight target still stands) and that its to get fit and toned. I want to be healthy and eat clean and workout with a smart head, not follow a diet plan for the rest of my life!

                  My new best friend!

Pie & Lattes

I have now had my wonderful gym membership since October and it’s the Full Works! I get unlimited access to the Gym, Swimming Pool and to top it off – ALL CLASSES!

So, that being the case – Why have I not attended any yet? Hmm. It’s one thing getting my head down in the gym, peddling away and avoiding all eye contact. It’s a whole new ball game when you’re in a group all doing the same thing. You compare; fitness level, size, age, ability, how much is that woman sweating… am I working hard enough. Oh Gosh, they’re looking at me flailing in the back.

There we are. But it’s the closest I’m going to get to nabbing me a Personal Trainer so I took the plunge – literaly! I attended Aqua Aerobics, mainly because by most of my body being under the water it’s a lot less to see and I was pretty sure the other attendees would be Mega-Old so less chance they’d Out-Fitness me. And it wasn’t so bad.

Then came Bokwa. First, let’s start with Zumba. It appeals as it’s a choreography-ish dance workout, but the tunes suck. I do NOT like Latin/Salsa music, sorry guys! Then Zumba got cancelled – woop. And replaced with Bokwa – Double Woop! Bokwa is apparently a combo of Light Boxing and Kwaito Dance – Lots of jumping about, kicking and twisting like a crazy person. Now, the gym list it as High Intensity and that scared me so two months on I finally booked myself in. And it was AMAZING! You can pick and choose how hard you do each move – either toe bounce or full on jump for example – so when it was a little tough, back to the bounce. Rested? Jump away!

I even booked straight on for the following week!

Now I have a week off work too, so thought I’d try out a few more classes – Today was Pilates!

This was Low Intensity on the planner so no massive bounds in the weight loss department, but I’ve been feeling pretty sore in the back and legs so figured a nice stretching class wouldn’t do any harm. Again, I managed to follow along and do all the poses and moves. Not once did I have to fall back on to the “Half-Hearted” version of the moves that they put in for the Not-So-Fitties! Challenge Achieved.

I am so pleased I finally can not just keep up with a new class of varying difficulties but also get praised by the Instructors for doing it well – This NEVER would have happened in the past, ever.

Back to booking some more classes now!
